Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies monitor students navigating a coned course driving a pedal cart while wearing Fatal Vision Googles, which distort the driver’s vision.
TARPON SPRINGS – “Fatal Vision Googles” helped bring home the message during Prom DUI Awareness at East Lake High School April 4.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Suncoast Safety Council, Students Against Destructive Decision and the high school at 1300 Silver Eagle Drive in Tarpon Springs, collaborated to spread the message of safety during the 2014 prom season.
Students were encouraged to try to navigate a coned course driving a pedal cart, on loan from the Suncoast Safety Council, while wearing Fatal Vision Goggles. The goggles distort the driver’s vision to simulate different levels of impairment to help people understand the effects of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
