These fourteen students are the 2012 graduating class from Center Academy – Palm Harbor
PALM HARBOR – Fourteen students graduated from the Center Academy in Palm Harbor May 18, as a crowd of about 130 family and friends watched the ceremony at Countryside Country Club in Clearwater.
Center Academy, a SACS accredited private school for students in grades four through 12 focuses on teaching to each student’s individual needs and providing students with a learning environment that facilitates the development of self-confidence, motivation, and academic skills, and gives students the opportunity to achieve success in life. This philosophy is shared in Center Academy’s 10 locations throughout Florida.
“This was a special group of students,” said Palm Harbor Director Suzy Gaudin. “Most of the graduating class has been with us since elementary or middle school. Each one of these students has overcome a unique challenge and has achieved success.”
The valedictorian, Jon Egan, graduated with a 4.24, having earned 31 college credits through the Dual Enrollment Program at St. Petersburg College, and will be receiving the Bright Futures Academic Scholarship. He has plans to finish his A.A. at St. Petersburg College and then transfer to USF to pursue a degree in Computer Science.
The salutatorian, Joseph Shanley, graduated with a 3.73, having earned 12 college credits through St. Petersburg College's Dual Enrollment Program, and will be receiving the Bright Futures Medallion Scholarship. He will be attending USF in the fall to pursue a degree in Pharmacology.
As for the other graduates, most will be attending St. Petersburg College, and other schools in the area, including Beacon College and PTEC.
