Adams, Wojcik retain Redington Shores seats

REDINGTON SHORES – Vice Mayor Bert Adams and Commissioner Casey Wojcik will retain their seats on the Board of Commissioners. Both were up for re-election and had filed to run again.
Nobody came forward to oppose either candidate by the Friday, Dec. 21 deadline, so there will be no election in March.
The lack of opposition may have surprised some as the town has been subject to recent heated controversies over conversion of the old town hall property to a municipal parking lot and disallowing street parking in portions of a residential area due to safety concerns.
However, both disputes were resolved by compromise solutions achieved with resident input.
Wojcik said that approach has worked well for the town. He called the resolution of the old town hall property issue “a textbook example of open, representative government using citizens input to get a solution acceptable to all.” Ownership of the parking plan for the site is now shared among the residents and town officials, he said.
Wojcik said he appreciated citizens taking the time to attend the workshop session held on the issue, contributing their ideas and working with the commission to build a consensus.
Wojcik and Adams will serve two-year terms. Adams represents District 1, and Wojcik District 3.
