MADEIRA BEACH – The parking lot for the Publix store at Duhme Road and Tom Stuart Causeway in Madeira Beach is closed for the demolition and eventual reconstruction of a new Publix store at the site.
Due to the construction, parents of students who attend Madeira Beach Fundamental School will no longer be able to park in the Publix lot. Parking will not be allowed in the adjacent Chase Bank lot or at the Walgreen’s store.
Parents have been advised to use the drop-off retrieval lane on the school property.
County officials said motorists should expect traffic delays in the area between 7:30 and 8 a.m. and 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.
The Publix store closed Jan. 11 after 56 years of operation at the location. Publix officials plan to build a new 46,000 square foot store at the site, which will open later this year.
