Madeira Beach Middle School gets math and science grant

MADEIRA BEACH – Toshiba America Foundation in New York City has allocated a $8,960 science and match grant to Madeira Beach Middle School for the Madeira Marine Quest project.

The project was created by Heather Butler, an eighth grade science teacher at Madeira Beach Middle School.

The grant money will enable students to sharpen their math and science skills while exploring the marine environment near their school. Students will use technology to evaluate the physical and biological properties of their campus, monitoring changes in the marine environment caused by time, season, tides and pollution levels.

The Toshiba America Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting improvements in science and math education through its grants program since 1990.
