INDIAN SHORES – The Pub Waterfront Restaurant has undergone a major renovation to make the popular eatery even more popular.

Located at 20025 Gulf Blvd., the restaurant is owned and operated by Steve Westphal who also owns the upscale Parkside Grill in St. Petersburg.

The Pub has a new bar, carpeting and other enhancements that include outdoor and floating dock improvements.

Westphal said the restaurant still offers live entertainment. A new dance floor soon will be installed.

Live entertainment featuring steel drum and other music is offered each night of the week.

The restaurant is open seven days a week and specializes in seafood. The eatery offers early specials beginning at 11 a.m. and even a breakfast buffet on Sundays from 8 a.m. to noon.

The lunch and dinner menus have been bolstered to include a variety of new seafood and other meal items.

“What was old is now new,” Westphal said.

Built a half century ago by Harry Kennedy who ran it as a seafood restaurant, The Pub was sold to Barry Dobson, who added Italian cuisine and other non-seafood items to the menu. The eatery fell into disrepair after Dobson’s death and Westphal, who once worked there as a busboy, purchased it from Dobson’s widow.

During his tenure the restaurant grew from 18 boat slips to 50. Its seating capacity jumped from about 250 to 450. Its customers range from the young to senior citizens to a scattering of sports figures and celebrities.

The restaurant also is affiliated with the nearby Island Marina Boat Rentals that offers various watercraft, motorized bikes and bicycles for reasonable rental fees.

Westphal’s St. Petersburg restaurant located at 300 Beach Drive is an upscale eatery that offers fine food and spirits.
