NORTH REDINGTON BEACH – An Indiana man was seriously injured when a car hit him about 8 p.m. March 23 at 17200 Gulf Boulevard in North Redington Beach.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team reported that Jed Gettinger, 30, was crossing Gulf Boulevard from west to east at the crosswalk. Stanley Klimek, 69, of St. Petersburg was driving his 2007 Toyota Prius northbound when he struck Gettinger in the curb lane.
Gettinger was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Deputies say he suffered serious injuries to his head.
Witnesses told deputies that the pedestrian signal was flashing at the time of the crash.
“At this time, neither speed nor impairment appear to be a factor in the crash,” the report said.
