Forum to promote storm safety, preparedness

ST. PETE BEACH – St. Pete Beach Fire Department will host the 2008 Hurricane Forum on Tuesday, May 20, 6 p.m., at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive.

The event will include a vendor showcase from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a question and answer period. Guest speakers will include Mike Clay, Bay News 9 chief meteorologist; Tom Malone, St. Pete Beach Fire Department Ops Commander; David Romine, St. Pete Beach Police Chief; Steve Hallock, public services director; and a representative from Pinellas County Emergency Management.

Experts will discuss how to protect homes and businesses, the proper evacuation and re-entry process and dealing with disaster in a storm’s aftermath. There will be light refreshments and raffle prizes. Call 363-9245.
