ST. PETE BEACH – A 79-year-old motorcyclist suffered non-life threatening injuries after crashing into a Lexus being driven by an 80-year-old Wednesday afternoon.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating the crash that occurred in St. Pete Beach about 2:26 p.m. May 7.
According to deputies, James Clark of St. Pete Beach was driving his 2000 Lexus southbound on Gulf Blvd. in the median lane in the area of 73rd Avenue. At the same time, Jesse Almond of Tierra Verde was driving his 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle, attempting to pull onto Gulf Blvd from 73rd Avenue, intending to travel southbound.
Almond struck the driver’s side rear quarter panel of the Lexus, and he was ejected from the motorcycle. He was transported to a local hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Almond was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Clark was not injured in the crash.
It does not appear that alcohol or drug impairment were factors in the crash. No charges are pending at this time.
