NORTH REDINGTON BEACH – Mayor Bill Queen introduced Maggie Cinnella, the new director of the Gulf Beaches Public Library, at the May 14 North Redington Beach town hall meeting.
Cinnella was hired by the library board on March 25.
Cinnella told North Redington Beach residents she was glad to be back in the area after her recent stint in New Mexico. Before that, she had been a librarian for over five years at the Madeira Beach library.
Given the issues the Gulf Beaches Public Library has faced in light of the dismissal of Jan Horah last November, Cinnella made it a point to make herself accessible to the community.
“Feel free to call me for any reason,” she said.
The approval of the Gulf Beaches Public Library Interlocal Agreement was tabled during new business. Further adjustments are being made to the agreement and then it will be on a forthcoming agenda for consideration.
During miscellaneous business, Mayor Bill Queen announced that the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative is requesting a volunteer to participate on its board of directors. Interested parties should obtain an application at town hall.
In new business, an ordinance pertaining to temporary banner signs was amended and passed on first reading. The ordinance allows for a new business to display one temporary banner sign, not to exceed 50 square feet, for 60 days after it acquires its first business tax receipt.
