REDINGTON SHORES – Helen L. Heath, a founder of the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, died May 17, 2014 at her home. She was 104.
Born in Macon, Georgia, she graduated from the Georgia Teachers College before moving to Tampa in the 1930s. After a short teaching career, she devoted her life to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Ralph T. Heath, Sr.
She is survived by her son Ralph T. Heath Jr., her niece Margaret “Mick” Eslick, a nephew James L “Jack” (Celine) Peavy, her grandchildren Andrew (Alma), Alex, Peter, Adie von Gontard and a great grandson Andrew von Gontard., a great nephew Donald “Don” Eslick and a great great niece Kevi Jassmann.
The family wishes to thank Jennie Hale for the exemplary care she gave Heath.
Her service was May 27 at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes Tyrone Chapel.
