Police investigate theft of marine diesel fuel
TREASURE ISLAND – The Treasure Island Police Department is investigating a complaint from a resident concerning the theft of diesel fuel from a boat.

Some time between May 31 and June 4, about 300 gallons of diesel fuel was siphoned from a vessel docked behind a residence on Paradise Island in the Blind Pass Inlet. The value of the fuel is approximately $1,500. There have been no other incidents reported to date.

As fuel prices rise, especially diesel fuel, police are asking residents to be more careful and secure their boats and vehicles to prevent economically-driven crimes. Anyone with information regarding the theft should contact the Treasure Island Police Department at 547-4595.

Storm damages bridge computers
TREASURE ISLAND – The Treasure Island Causeway bridge was temporarily closed to larger boats last weekend following electrical damage from a June 6 storm. The damage affected the bridge’s lift computers, which were repaired June 9. The bridge remained open to vehicular traffic.
