TREASURE ISLAND – The Treasure Island & Madeira Beach Chamber of Commerce is seeking computer savvy people with the “gift of gab,” according to Ed Gutauskas, volunteer coordinator.
“Every month, our chamber has committee meetings, networking meetings, and special events,” Gutauskas said. “We need volunteers to help us keep connected with our members by phone, track information on spreadsheets, greet visitors to our welcome center, and answer questions about the area, the chamber, and our upcoming activities.”
The chamber is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteer shifts are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or 1 to 4 p.m. A volunteer can fill one or more shifts per month.
“Ideally, we’d like a volunteer to take the same shift every week,” Gutauskas said.
Tasks range from making phone calls to let business members know about upcoming events such as after-hours mixers; entering data on spread sheets; assisting in the preparation of flyers; asking members to donate door prizes or services for chamber events; preparing gift bags for events; preparing packets of information; and going into the community to distribute posters and/or flyers.
“We also need volunteers for special activities,” said Gutauskas. “We need people to help with ticket sales, registration, event operation, and set-up and tear-down for several major events throughout the year. If someone has a few hours a week, or a few days a year, we have a place for them at the Treasure Island & Madeira Beach Chamber of Commerce.”
