TREASURE ISLAND – The Treasure Island Art Guild will be celebrating its 50th anniversary Sept. 4 and will continue festivities surrounding the milestone over the next nine months with receptions, workshops and paint outs.
The club was formed in 1958 by the Treasure Island Recreation Department following a donation from the Treasure Island Islettes
Membership varies and is currently at 125.
The Guild is supported by its members and receives free space in City Hall for meetings and shows. It offers weekly workshops in abstract, still life and portrait.
It conducts nine art shows annually of which three are money prize award shows.
The club awards a $1,500 scholarship each May.
