Read & Feed slated
INDIAN SHORES – The town library will host a Read and Feed featuring Jodi Picoult’s novel “My Sister’s Keeper,” Monday, Sept. 21, 11:30 a.m. The book, which chronicles the challenges of a child conceived as a bone-marrow match for her cancer-stricken sister, touches on difficult ethical issues raised by genetic engineering. During the discussion, participants will enjoy a lunch of chili, prepared by the library volunteers.

The central character finds refuge in her father’s firehouse, while fire-setting and firefighting are key symbols in the story.

Cost is $8, with the number of participants limited to 24. Residents should sign up for the event in the town library by Sept. 19. The library, located in Indian Shores Town Hall, 19305 Gulf Blvd., is open Monday and Thursday, 1 to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Several copies of the book are available for checkout. For more information, call 595-2173.
