Daniel “Danny” Durwood Perry, 67, passed away Aug. 3, 2017 at Bay Pines VA Hospital in Bay Pines, Florida.
He was a 1968 graduate of Colebrook Academy in Colebrook, New Hampshire and served as a helicopter door-gunner and mechanic for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
For 25 years, Danny worked as a letter-sorting machine operator for the U.S. Postal Service in Portland, Maine. He was a member of American Legion Post 273, a Life Member of Vietnam Veterans of America and a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Predeceased by his parents, Harold Perry and Theresa Cavanaugh Perry of Colebrook, Danny is survived by his daughter, Nicole Perry of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; brother, Harold Perry of Colebrook; aunt, Sheila Beauchemin of Colebrook; nephew, Wade Perry of Colebrook; niece, Wendy Perry, also of Colebrook; longtime companion, Sue Ellen Lintz of Madeira Beach, Florida; and former wife, Krista Perry of Wallingford, Connecticut.
Arrangements are entrusted to Garden Sanctuary, 7950 131st St. N., Seminole, FL 33776.
Interment will be Monday, Oct. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Bay Pines National Cemetery with a memorial service to follow.
Donations in Danny’s honor may be made to any non-profit organization that supports veterans and their families.
