John Kenneth “Ken” Jacobsen, 77, passed away suddenly, Oct. 5, 2012, while in Georgia.
Ken was a graduate of Tufts University in Massachusetts, with a degree in Engineering, and served as an Officer in the U.S. Navy for two years.
He served as Commissioner/Mayor of Madeira Beach, Fla. for 12 years. He was on the Board of Directors of the Gulf Beaches Public Library for 34 years.
He was also a member of the Amateur Radio Club in both Florida and North Carolina, and member of the Radio Controlled Plane Clubs, Camera Club and Forum Club.
Ken was an inventor, scientist, engineer and founder of K & L Research Co. Throughout his career, Ken was awarded several patents.
He loved to travel, camp, and hike with his wife, Lois, at his side.
He was predeceased by his parents, John R. and Alice Nelson Jacobsen, formerly of Seminole, Fla.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lois Holmberg Jacobsen; son, Gary Scott Jacobsen and wife, Chris, of San Jose, Calif.; daughter, Lori Lux and husband, Louis, of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Tyler Jacobsen, Travis, Rebecca and Kyle Lux; and a niece and nephew.
Reese Funeral Home, Seminole, is entrusted with the memorial service.
Donations in Ken’s memory can be made to the Gulf Beaches Public Library, Madeira Beach or a charity of your choice.
