Empty-nester club NORTH REDINGTON BEACH – A new social group for single people who have recently become empty-nesters meets Thursdays, 7 p.m., in Mango’s Restaurant and Tiki Bar, at the Doubletree Beach Resort, 17120 Gulf Blvd. The first get-together will serve as an introductory meeting. Gulf Beaches Library hours MADEIRA BEACH – Gulf Beaches Public Library is now open a few hours longer. New hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular hours on other days will remain the same, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Indian Shores plans anniversary ball INDIAN SHORES – The town of Indian Shores plans its 60th Anniversary Ball Saturday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m., in the town auditorium. The event commemorates the diamond anniversary of the signing of the town charter in 1949. Dinner will be catered by the Salt Rock Grill and entertainment provided by the five-piece dance band “The Memories.” The cost is $25 and includes dinner, two drinks, a 60th anniversary memento and several door prize drawings. Sea turtles program INDIAN SHORES – Clearwater Marine Aquarium is offering a presentation on sea turtles Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, 18328 Gulf Blvd. Admission is free. Call 391-6211 to register.
Sanding Ovations TREASURE ISLAND – Sanding Ovations, a three-day masters sand sculpting competition, is set in Treasure Island Nov. 20 to 22. World class sculptors from the United States and Canada will compete in the three-day event, which also will include live music, children’s activities, food, beverages and crafts. Sponsors are the city of Treasure Island, Treasure Island Chamber of Commerce, Bud Light Lime and Land Shark lager, Bilmar Beach Resort, Sloppy Joe’s Restaurant, Johnson Brothers and the Island Inn Resort. Treasure Island was the home of the largest sandcastle in 1985 and was proclaimed the Sand Sculpture Capital of Florida in 2001 by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. Hollyfest TREASURE ISLAND – The Treasure Islettes are hosting the annual Hollyfest on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Treasure Island Community Center, behind Walgreen’s on Gulf Boulevard. Tickets, which include lunch, are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Opportunities will be available on theme gift baskets, stocked with assorted goodies, as well as tables with bazaar Items, books, holiday crafts, and baked goods. The proceeds go to the city of Treasure Island for beautification. For reservations, a must if you plan to play cards, call Maudie Gurack at 360-5076 or Carol Lee at 360-9181. Those that just want to shop can come in at no charge.
Corey Sunday Market ST. PETE BEACH – The Corey Avenue Sunday “European Style” Market is back and boasts new hours this season, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Corey Avenue is blocked between Blind Pass Road and Boca Ciega Drive, featuring more than 35 local vendors. Kilpatrick's Produce, Local Florida Honey, “I Got 'Em” Turkey Legs & BBQ and Island Time Design are among the vendors.

Flip Flop Fling ST. PETE BEACH – The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce plans its annual Fall Flip Flop Fling Friday, Nov. 6, 7 to 10 p.m., at the Gulf Plaza Resort and Conference Center, 5250 Gulf Blvd. The event is casual attire in the sand with food, raffles and a cash bar.
