NRB passes pair of ordinances

NORTH REDINGTON BEACH – Two ordinances regarding amendments to the town’s comprehensive plan were passed on first reading Nov. 12 during the North Redington Beach’s monthly meeting.

One was an amended table to reflect adjustments to the capital improvement fund revenues and expenditures for the upcoming five years. The other ordinance amended policy by recognizing the dispute resolution processes.

During old business, two ordinances that were previously passed on their first reading passed on their second and final reading.

One ordinance pertained to off-street parking spaces for restaurants, bars and lounges changing the required spaces from one space for every three seats to one space for every four seats.

The ordinance allowing for temporary banners and signs outside retail stores to be limited to one 14-day period per calendar year now allows the 14 days to be divided as the retailer sees fit over the calendar year.

Holiday events

As the holidays are fast approaching, the town is preparing for four festive holiday events.

The season kicks off with the town’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting on Friday, Dec. 4, 6:30 p.m., at Radcliffe Park. In addition, Santa Claus is expected to put in a pre-holiday appearance and present a gift to each child who attends. The Wine Cellar will be serving complimentary hot chocolate, coffee and delightful confections at the event.

The second holiday event will be the Santa Parade on Saturday, Dec. 12, starting at 3 p.m.

The parade winds through all the streets in North Redington Beach so residents need only step outside to see the fun.

Next, the Home Decorating Contest is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 17. Awards will be given to first-, second- and third-place winners.

The last event of the season is the Holiday Boat Parade on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. The event starts in Redington Beach and follows the Intracoastal north to Indian Rocks Beach.
