Seabird Sanctuary seeks public support

REDINGTON SHORES – The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary is seeking the support of residents at a town hall meeting Thursday, Dec. 10, 2 p.m., at Redington Shores Town Hall concerning the possible construction of a proposed aviary to help injured birds rehabilitate.

Several months ago, Redington Shores town building officials denied the Sanctuary permission to build another aviary. This was done due to zoning codes being changed well after the Sanctuary started its work in 1972, according to Sanctuary spokeswoman Michelle Simoneau.

Supporters of the Sanctuary and the proposed aviary are asked to e-mail letters of support to the town and show up Dec. 10 when a request for a variance will be considered by town officials.

Letters should be e-mailed to depclk@townofredingtonshores.com.

They should include names and home addresses of the sender.
