BELLEAIR BEACH – A process that began last April with 45 applicants for the city’s newly created city manager position has been whittled down to two finalists – Reid Silverboard and Doug Drymon. A third finalist, former IRB City Manager Eric Meserve, has withdrawn his name.
City Council members and interested residents will have the opportunity to hear from the two finalists at a special meeting Thursday, Jan. 13, 6 p.m., at City Hall. Silverboard and Drymon will each make an eight-minute presentation, after which the council may vote to offer one of them the job. It is also possible the matter could be sent back to the transition committee, if neither is deemed a suitable choice.
During the day Thursday, council members Bert Cutler, Marvin Behm, Jeffrey Coulson and Mary Jo Henderson, who are not members of the transition committee, will meet individually one-on-one with Silverboard and Drymon.
Reid Silverboard previously served as city manager in Hallandale Beach, Ft. Walton Beach and Carrollton, Ga. He lives in Treasure Island with his wife, Jill, who is city manager for the city of Madeira Beach.
Doug Drymon has served as town manager in Lake Park, city manager in Dade City and town manager in Wallace, N.C. He lives in Lake Park.
According to City Clerk Nancy McCollum, if one of the two candidates receives the council’s approval Thursday, he could be on the job in early February.
