Brinkman sends heartfelt thanks to Belleair residents
Article published on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007
BELLEAIR – In a Jan. 15 letter to the residents of the town of Belleair, Rick Brinkman, town resident, postal carrier and local hero serving in Iraq, writes the following:

“I am writing to bestow my sincerest appreciation for everything you have sent me and my brothers-in-arms. It was amazing – from snacks to personal hygiene items to cards, letters and magazines from seniors and young kids able to help out Santa this year here.

“You made several hundred folks smile, count their blessings and that’s huge here. Santa was able to visit various locations on camp from guards at a nearby prison, flight line personnel standing by for the next helicopter to land, to soldiers working on an M-1A tank on Christmas Eve. It was truly priceless the reaction these young soldiers showed when Santa made a visit to their work spaces.

“My unit is very thankful for all you have done for them. As a small token of our appreciation, please accept this flag that was flown here as a tribute to all the fine people of Belleair.”

Brinkman is serving his third tour of duty as a Naval Reserve medic in Iraq.
