Belleair named Tree City USA
BELLEAIR – For the 16th year, the city has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. Belleair has met the four standards to become a Tree City USA community: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program and an Arbor Day observance.

Directory provides helpful information
BELLEAIR – The 2007-2008 Belleair directory, prepared by the Belleair Civic Association, is being delivered to residents’ front doors. The directory includes addresses and phone numbers, a map of the town, local advertisements, garbage collection schedule and other items of interest. Residents are advised to keep an eye out for this helpful publication.

Island Estates Yacht Club donates to Clearwater Marine Aquarium
ISLAND ESTATES – The Island Estates Yacht Club Commodore Tom Smith recently presented a check for $500 to Clearwater Marine Aquarium Director David Yates. Organizers of the Memorial Holiday Boat Parade combined cash proceeds from the event with personal donations from several club members to benefit the aquarium. Smith said that the organization is pleased to help the aquarium because of the work they do in the rescue and treatment of ill and injured marine life. The recent donation is the third $500 cash contribution to the aquarium by the Island Estates Club.

Sea Star offers beach wheelchair
INDIAN ROCKS BEACH – A beach wheelchair is available as a loan free of charge with a credit card deposit and a driver’s license at the Sea Star Motel and Apartments. The chair makes pushing someone on the beach or even in the water fairly easy. The chair is available to the community in general at no cost. The Sea Star is at 1805 Gulf Blvd. N. Call Betty Anne and Bruce Tripke at 596-2525.
