BELLEAIR BEACH – The city’s Park Board is seeking volunteers to help replenish the sea oats along the recently renourished beach on Saturday, May 6, 8:30 a.m.
Sea oats and other beach vegetation help build dune areas which protect against erosion, especially during storms. Volunteers will donate a few hours to the vital task of enhancing and protecting the beautiful new beachfront. Planting instructions are simple and easily performed.
Volunteers will meet at Morgan Park. Bring sunblock, a trowel or spade, sunglasses and hat. The Park Board will provide water, snacks and easy directions for planting.
Indian Rocks Beach City Commissioner R.B. Johnson, a local sea oats expert, will be on hand to share his tips and advice and assist with the planting.
Morgan Park is at 2600 Gulf Blvd. Simply show up or call Deb at 593-0980 or City Clerk Nancy McCollum at 595-4646, ext. 124.
