County commissioners approve Brownfield designations
Article published on Thursday, May 4, 2006
CLEARWATER - The Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved on May 2 a resolution to designate the Belleair wastewater treatment plant and garage as Brownfield areas.

The designation will allow the town to take advantage of tax incentives and rebates as well as make it eligible for funding from federal agencies to clean up and develop both properties.

Plans call for the demolition of the wastewater treatment plan and building of a pumping station by Pinellas County Utilities. The town's garage will be moved from Ponce de Leon Boulevard.

Brownfield funds will be used to clean the garage and treatment plant sites to allow for alternate uses of the property in the future.
