ISLAND ESTATES – Clearwater Marine Aquarium has established a strategic partnership with Progress Energy Florida to upgrade its sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation program.
Specifically, Progress Energy has provided funding to refurbish CMA’s primary sea turtle exhibit, Turtle Bayou, creating a higher level of animal care for the resident turtles.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium has a renowned sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation program, in which injured and stranded turtles throughout the Southeastern U.S. are brought to CMA for assistance.
Many of the sea turtles are released back into the wild, while those deemed unreleasable are maintained as permanent residents and cared for at the aquarium.
The funds from Progress Energy were used to provide both refurbishment of the exhibit surface, and for an upgraded water filtration system.
Progress Energy is CMA’s first major corporate sponsor.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a Florida nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to marine animal rescue, rehabilitation and release, and environmental education.
