INDIAN ROCKS BEACH – The public is invited to attend the 8th Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony at Chic A Si Park, Friday, June 12, noon.

This annual ceremony properly retires American flags which have become torn and tattered in the service of their country. This year’s ceremony will again feature the MacDill AFB Honor Guard.

American flags may be brought to the ceremony or delivered to the Indian Rocks Beach City Hall, 1507 Bay Palm Blvd. or to VFW Post 10094, 14288 Walsingham Road.

The event is a joint effort by the city of Indian Rocks Beach, the St. Petersburg Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and VFW Post 10094. Mayor R.B. Johnson will host the ceremony and upon the conclusion of the program, snacks and refreshments will be served.

For more information or to donate flags to be retired, contact James Orndorff, VFW post commander, at 596-8959 or Dean A. Scharmen, IRB public services director, at 595-6889.

Chic A Si Park is at Fourth Avenue and Second Street (near Crabby Bills).
