INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - The city of Indian Rocks Beach will have an informational forum for residents who may be affected by an act of Congress that could substantially raise the cost of flood insurance.
The meeting is Thursday, Sept. 19, 7 p.m., at the civic auditorium, 1507 Bay Palm Blvd., Indian Rocks Beach.
The Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act was passed by Congress and signed into law by the president in 2012. Unless the Senate and House of Representatives approve a bill to delay the implementation, additional changes mandated by the law will go into effect Oct. 1.
A panel will present a detailed overview of the act, and residents will be able to participate in the question and answer session.
