INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - A candlelight vigil remembering the 9-month anniversary of the tragic shooting at Newtown, Conn., will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 7 p.m., at the beach access off Gulf Boulevard at 25th Avenue in Indian Rocks Beach.
Those gathering for the vigil also will hold in memory the 7,400 plus other persons who have died as the result of gun violence since Newtown. Limited parking is available at the beach access and additional parking will be available at the parking lot of the Church of the Isles, 200 24th Ave.
Citizens for Responsible Gun Laws, a grass roots movement, are the sponsors of the event. Speakers will reflect on the pain and grief of such shooting incidents and challenge those present to work for responsible gun laws. Music and song will be a part of the event. In planning for the event Citizens for Responsible Gun Laws has been in touch with the Brady Campaign, Mayors against Illegal Guns, Organizing for Action, Gabby Gifford and Mark Kelley’s Americans for Responsible Solutions and The Newton Action Alliance.
In the event of inclement weather an alternative sheltered location will be provided.
