A2K awards businesses, looks forward to Oktoberfest

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH – IRB Action 2000 Inc. recently enjoyed its Indian Summer Mixer at Jimmy Guana’s. The September evening weather was beautiful for the outdoor event.

A2K president, Jim Labadie, kicked off the event with a recap of the organization’s successes and encouraged residents to volunteer for the upcoming Oktoberfest. A2K offers chances to win two tickets to the 2007 NFL championship game in Miami. Tickets are available now at Cuso’s Club & Cantina or the IRB Visitor’s Center. The drawing will be the highlight of Oktoberfest at Kolb Park, Saturday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Ralph Montgomery Merit Award was presented to the following local businesses and resident that have taken initiatives to improve their properties in keeping with A2K’s charter of revitalizing and preserving IRB’s small town character:

• Nekton Surf Shop: Pete and Annie Lopez

• Imperial Real Estate: Lorri Marshall and Rob Bartelmay

• Indian Rocks Tackle: Bill and Donna Greenway

• Resident winner: Mel Childe
