Donations sought for Daniel Gray fundraiser
Article published on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 |
INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - Cheryl Coburn will host a Silent Art and Gift Basket Auction to benefit the Daniel Gray Trust Fund on Saturday, Nov. 11, 7 p.m., at the Church of the Isles. Donations of products or gift certificates are needed.
Daniel Gray, a 20-year-old college student, was involved in a hit and run motorcycle accident in July 2005. Gray was left for dead until a passing motorist saw him on the side of the road and called for help. The accident left Danny a quadriplegic.
Funds are being raised to help pay for an experimental surgery that may restore Gray's ability to use one arm. Gray's family has always been free with their time in giving back to the community. His mother, Jan, is a school teacher at Largo High School. She is now on a leave of absence as she serves as a full-time caretaker. His father, Larry, teaches at Seminole Vo-Tech. His brother serves as a helicopter pilot for the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan. The family has been involved with the Civil Air Patrol and Boy Scouts for more than 20 years.
Guests at the event will receive a booklet acknowledging each sponsor and their contribution.
The church is at 200 24th Ave. Call Coburn at 586-6403 or e-mail information.cacoburn48@yahoo.com.
