Obituary: Lily Irene (nee Kirk) Thomas

Lily Irene (nee Kirk) Thomas joined the Risen Lord on September 30, 2012.
She was born on August 1, 1923 in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, in England, where she grew up and lived for most of her early life.
She was an active member of the Women’s Institute, Women’s Volunteer Service, Meals on Wheels, and she was also a Brownie Pack Leader.
In 1989, Lily and her husband, Peter, decided to retire to Florida where they joined Calvary Episcopal Church, Indian Rocks Beach. She then became active in various charities, including Migrant Worker Relief, as well as President of St. Anne’s Guild of the ECW. In addition, Lily was a member of the Florida Suncoasters, the American Cancer Discovery Shop, Largo Women’s Club, Suncoast Hospital and Abilities Guild, and an aide at Mildred E. Helms School.
She leaves her loving husband of 67 years, Peter; sons, Paul Thomas (Ramona) of Largo and Dr. Nigel Thomas (Kathleen) of Largo and Perth, Western Australia; grandchildren, Scott and Ross of Brandon, Florida, Alexander, Christopher and Annalise of Western Australia; great-granddaughter, Nevaya of Albany, Western Australia, and step-grandchildren, Anita and Paul of Perth, Western Australia, Sid of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Bryan of Washington, D.C., Brahm of New York City, Sean of Boston, Massachusetts, Meghan of St. Louis, Missouri, and Sarah of New York City.
Memorial donations in Lily’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
