Pinellas Suncoast firefighters honored for service

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH – Two firefighters with the Pinellas Suncoast Fire and Rescue District were honored Dec. 2 by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
During ceremonies at the public meeting of the PSF&RD Board of Commissioners, firefighters Kerry Bell and Todd Best received recognition for their outstanding contributions to the citizens served by the PSF&RD.
Before family, friends and fellow firefighters, Best was commended by the VFW as EMT of the Year while Bell accepted recognition as Paramedic of the Year.
The awards were presented by Stephen Surface, VFW senior vice commander, Department of Florida and James Orndoff, Largo Post 10094 commander.
In addition, four firefighters received service pin awards. They include Lt. David Livernois, 10 years of service; firefighter/EMT James Norberg, 10 years of service; Assistant Fire Marshal David Martin, 10 years of service; and firefighter/paramedic Gerald Shanahan, 15 years of service.
