BELLEAIR – The Greater Belleair Young Women’s Society celebrates 25 years. It was founded in 1979 to promote friendship through social activities. General meetings are once a month September through June.
Special interest groups are smaller, more casual gatherings. They help members meet others who have similar interests and to develop their own potential and contribute to the group as a whole. Groups such as culinary critics, lunch bunch and adult activities are available to every member depending on her interests.
Although the society is primarily a social organization, they also are involved in community service by supporting The Haven, Festival of Trees, Toys for Tots, the Performing Arts Center and Theater, The Spouse Abuse Shelter CASA, Family Service Centers, St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen and the Sexual Abuse Family Emergency Center.
Membership is offered to women who have passed their 21st birthday and live in the geographic area of Belleair, Belleair Beach, Belleair Bluffs, Belleair Shore, Carlton Estates, Harbor Bluffs, Harbor Hills, Harbor Oaks, Island Estates, Randolph Farms, Sand Key, The Bluffs and Kensington Oaks. Active members also may sponsor an individual living outside the area for membership.
Social activities such as adult theme parties, family outings, children’s activities and other events take place throughout the year, fulfilling the motto “To meet ... To Know ... To Grow.”
For membership, call Marie Coleman at 743-8018.
