The Clearwater Threshers joined forces with the Makers United for Children’s Hope (MUCH) Foundation Aug. 20 to host Superhero Night at Bright House Field.
CLEARWATER - Clearwater city officials approved a new policy for the operation of the variable lighting system for the Clearwater Monument.

The monument, erected last year as a part of the city’s centennial celebration, is located on Gulf- to-Bay Boulevard, and will showcase static shades of blue and green in keeping with the city’s new branding campaign.

CLEARWATER - More than 100 dresses hand-sewn by women from First United Methodist Church Clearwater were recently delivered to young girls in Honduras by their partner group in Stuart named Cross Stitch for God’s Children.

Cathie McCarthy and Chris Buehler of the Treasure Coast Community Church in Stuart formed Cross Stitch in February 2015. The program continues to grow across the country with volunteer partners like those from FUMC. The dresses from FUMC were part of a total of 400 dresses that were distributed to young girls in Honduras, Dominican Republic and Haiti.

CLEARWATER - When it comes to kids, you can never give too MUCH.

At least that’s the philosophy of one Tampa Bay nonprofit that works to bring together everyday heroes with their favorite superheroes.

Makers United for Children’s Hope (MUCH) is a foundation dedicated to enhancing the lives of children who are hospitalized or who live with disabilities by providing personal visits from beloved costumed characters.

"Our organization is not searching for a cure,” said MUCH founder Zac Hurst. “We are caring for and improving the lives of the children who are every day waiting for those cures to be discovered.”

CLEARWATER - The Clearwater City Council approved a service agreement between the Clearwater Police Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s office in the amount of $489,671 for forensic services for the upcoming fiscal year.

CLEARWATER - As the result of considerable backlash from some community members, the Clearwater City Council refrained from moving forward with a plan that would create two one-way street pairs on Clearwater Beach.

The plan would have converted Coronado and Hamden drives into one-way pairs, with traffic on Coronado going southbound and traffic on Hamden going northbound.
