CLEARWATER - Jeanne Frymire celebrated her 100th birthday at the Welcome Newcomer Club’s monthly luncheon at the Island Way Grill Jan. 7. She is a longtime, active member of the Welcome Newcomer Club, Inc., which is a not-for-profit corporation. The purpose of the club is social, for the development of acquaintances and good fellowship.
The club meets once a month at local restaurants and country clubs for lunch, a program and speaker and card playing. It also has many groups which meet during the month, such as book clubs, canasta, bridge, a Saturday Supper Club and Couples Dining Out.

Community grants available CLEARWATER – The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of North Pinellas is accepting applications for its 2014 community grants. The grants are for up to $1,000 each and will be awarded to nonprofit organizations that sponsor local projects. The club is able to provide these grants because of the success of its annual arts and craft show, Christmas Under the Oaks, which has been held for 37 years. Applications are available at www.gfwcnpwc.org under the “forms” tab. Applications must state objectives of the project, activities, timeline, budget and evaluation. The deadline is Saturday, March 1. Forms also may be requested by an email to email@example.com.
Women’s club hosts events CLEARWATER – The General Federation of Women’s Club of Clearwater is hosting the following upcoming events:

Blanton named Volunteer of the Year CLEARWATER – The GFWC Clearwater Community Woman’s Club recently presented its 2013 Volunteer of the Year award to Judy Blanton of Clearwater at its annual holiday luncheon. Blanton has been a member of the club since 2009 and has served on numerous committees and continues to make an impact on the club. A few of her activities include the RCS Food Bank, her Homeowners Association, a poll worker during elections, receiving an award as Junior Advisor in the State of Florida, and a leadership candidate in 2009 representing GFWC-CCWC in District 14.
