Clearwater Police Officers arrested Michael Paul Paine of Sarasota after he allegedly traveled to meet what he thought was a 15-year-old girl.
CLEARWATER – More than a week after Clearwater police, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies concluded Operation Home Alone, targeting sexual predators who go after children, Clearwater Police announced that another arrest has been made.
Michael Paul Paine, 43, of Sarasota has been in constant contact with an undercover detective that he thought was actually a 15-year-old girl, police said.
On Feb. 3, Paine showed up to meet the girl and instead ended up getting arrested and taken to the Pinellas County Jail. He was charged with traveling to meet a minor, seduction of a minor via the internet and two counts of transmission of harmful material to a minor.
Police say that Paine, a construction worker and a student, admitted to the offenses after his arrest. This marks the 36th arrest since the investigation began.
