CLEARWATER – On Feb. 17 at 9:30 p.m., a 1999 Chrysler van was traveling west on Lakeview Road at a high speed when the driver lost control west of Prospect Avenue.
The vehicle left the road on the north side of Lakeview, striking a fence and power pole wires before striking a tree and coming to a rest, according to a Clearwater police report.
At impact, the vehicle burst into flames. Clearwater Fire and Rescue responded and extinguished the fire.
The driver was dead inside the vehicle. Due to the condition of the body, a positive identification is pending.
