CLEARWATER – The Homeless Emergency Project has earned a coveted 4-Star Charity Navigator rating for the third consecutive time.
A 4-star is Charity Navigator’s highest rating, which is given to nonprofits that practice exceptional fiscal responsibility and governance in fulfilling its mission.
“Only 9 percent of the charities that we rate have received at least three consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that the Homeless Emergency Project outperforms most other charities in America,” said Ken Berger, Charity Navigator’s president and CEO. “This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates (HEP) from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
“We are honored to receive another outstanding rating from Charity Navigator,” said Barb Green, HEP president and CEO. “HEP is committed to using our financial resources wisely to the benefit of the men, women and children who we serve at the shelter each day. With the guidance and leadership of our board of directors and the dedication to our volunteer corps, we strive to stretch every dollar we receive to the farthest extent possible.”
For every dollar raised at HEP, 82.1 percent is spent on direct program expenses, including intensive case management, clothing and personal care, food and nutritional services, family outreach, supported employment, transportation, and other needs.
