FSPA Hall of Fame inducts local man CLEARWATER – Frederick Howard of Clearwater was recently inducted into the Florida Swimming Pool Association Hall of Fame. The Florida Swimming Pool Association is a trade association for the pool and spa industry in Florida.
Hall of Fame inductees are nominated based on criteria including a minimum of 10 years of active service and participation in state-level activities, demonstration of actions that are clearly intended to benefit the entire industry and being widely respected. The Hall of Fame committee reviews all nominations and has chosen Howard to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Howard got his start in the pool industry in 1978, before starting his own company in April of 1981 at the age of 18. He joined the FSPA/NSPI Florida West Coast Chapter in May of 1992 and began his service on the FSPA Board of Directors when he was elected Florida West Coast chapter president in 2004. He served on the FSPA Board as Chapter President until March of 2009 when he was elected to the FSPA executive committee as treasurer. He served as treasurer in 2010, secretary in 2011, and at-large director in 2012 and 2013.
Roperti earns reprographic award CLEARWATER – Bob Roperti recently was awarded the 2014 George K. Bukovsky Award from the International Reprographic Association. The Bukovsky Award recognizes individuals who have made significant, long-term contributions to the reprographics industry.
Roperti has owned Jiffy Reprographics in Clearwater since 1988. He previously worked for DuPont for 22 years. He was the president of IRgA in 2011-12, and has held numerous other positions, including board member and committee chairperson. He also has held leadership positions in the Reprographics Services Association and Eastern Reprographics Association.
Mangone reopens Clearwater Signarama CLEARWATER – Mike Mangone, 25, recently reopened the Clearwater Signarama location at 30145 U.S. 19 N. in partnership with his parents, Mark and Sheree, who have owned and operated a Signarama location in St. Petersburg since 2001. Mangone grew up around the business and has amassed more than a decade of experience in the industry and with Signarama in particular. Mangone graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando in 2010 with a degree in marketing.

Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers opens CLEARWATER – Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers opened its newest area location March 3 at 2630 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. The menu features a variety of pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones and appetizers. Options for vegetarians, vegans, kids and those on a gluten-free plan are also available. The store features a large, illuminated historically registered tree that towers above the restaurant by approximately 50 feet and measuring in excess of 100 feet in width.
Core Investment names VP CLEARWATER – CORE Investment Management LLC, offering investment advisory services through Asset Management Financial Services Inc., recently announced that Andrew M. Denis has joined the firm as vice president and investment adviser representative. Denis brings 20 years of experience in the financial planning and investment management industries.
Prior to joining CORE, which is headquartered in Clearwater, Denis was an investment adviser representative with Securities America Advisors Inc. and a registered representative with Securities America Inc. He also worked as an investment adviser representative with Boston Asset Management and Gator Capital Management.
Denis received the Certified Financial Planner designation in 2000. He is also a Florida licensed insurance agent. Denis holds a degree in engineering from University of Florida and lives in Seminole. He is active in the Rotary Club of Clearwater, Suncoast Estate Planning Council and the Suncoast Hospice Foundation Professional Partners Council.
