CLEARWATER – In continued efforts to make every game a baseball fan’s best experience, a number of new amenities have recently debuted at Spectrum Field as Phillies’ spring training is fully under way.
Ballpark food can make or break a ball game experience, so Spectrum Field has pulled out all the stops to make its concourse a must-see for hungry fans.
New this year is a Top Your Hotdog cart, which features a variety of hotdogs, including a quarter-pound dog, that fans can fully customize.
The Pinch Hit Grill, which features Bubba burgers, veggie and turkey burgers, bratwurst and Italian sausage, has recently been remodeled.
Local flavors will dominate the concourse as local favorites including Pete and Shorty’s, a restaurant and bar with a Midwest feel; Westshore Pizza, one of Clearwater’s most popular pizza joints; and Tijuana Flats all return to Spectrum Field.
More food options include the Strike Out Cafe in right field, featuring Boston Market, Thresher's BBQ sandwiches, Boar’s Head Cuban sandwiches and wraps, Delco's cheesesteaks and chicken cheesesteaks, and Hatfield hot dogs.
Credit cards will now be taken at all stands and portables. There will also be new digital menu boards at various locations.
And what’s a good game without an ice cold brew?
“We’re serving locally crafted beer and we think that’s something fans will really appreciate,” said public relations spokesman Rob Stretch.
Clearwater brewery Sea Dog Bar will feature eight craft beers nightly and a new local craft beer cart will feature four local craft beers on tap. During the Thresher’s season, Sea Dog Sundays will feature the local brewery.
Beers of the World takes up residence on the concourse and will offer more than 100 national and international beers, as well as locally crafted brews.
“We are always looking for opportunities to partner with the community and this just makes good business sense,” Stretch said.
Frenchy’s Tiki Bar will also offer fans sangria, margaritas, rum and beer buckets, as well as full bar offerings.
In a new program this year, during spring training or the regular Threshers season, fans can take their ticket to any Pinellas County Tijuana Flats location the following day and receive free chips and a taco. During the Threshers summer games, fans can take their Sea Dog Sunday game ticket into the brewery in Clearwater for a free draft pint.
“Sunshine, hot dogs and cold beer – you bring all of that together and it just means so much to people,” Stretch said.
