Utility crews work to repair damage to lines and poles after a dump truck crash on Roosevelt Boulevard the morning for March 14.
CLEARWATER Ė Roosevelt Boulevard near Bay Vista Drive was closed for more than an hour Friday morning after a dump truck crash damaged several power and utility poles.
Raul German Llanes, 36, of Tampa was traveling westbound on Roosevelt Boulevard near Bay Vista Drive about 8:46 a.m. March 14 when he lost control of the unloaded dump truck operated by Alijovin Corporation, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The vehicle traveled to the shoulder and collided with several power and utility poles.
Llanes was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries and released. He was charged with careless driving.
Several utility poles maintained by Duke Energy, Brighthouse and Verizon, as well as signs owned by area businesses, were damaged. Roosevelt Boulevard was closed in both directions until about 10 a.m. when the eastbound lanes re-opened. As of noon, westbound lanes were still closed from County Road 611 to Bay Vista Drive as utility crews continued work.
