“Spring Training” by artist Robert Daltry, owned by the city of Clearwater, is currently residing in the office of Sen. Jack Latvala in Tallahassee.
CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce and the city of Clearwater created a project to artistically showcase the bottlenose dolphin, and the pod has grown to 101 dolphins.
They are located throughout Pinellas County and the surrounding area.
Recently, four of these decorated fiberglass and resin 6-foot-tall dolphins headed to Tallahassee, where they will reside in the offices of Sen. Jack Latvala, Rep. Ed Hooper, Rep. Kathleen Peters and Rep. Carl Zimmerman.
The dolphins chosen are the following:
• “Bright Eyes,” by artist Cathe Bain and owned by Bright House Networks
• “America the Beautiful,” by artist Betsy Hawkins-Maher and owned by the Tampa Bay Times
• “Hunter” by artist Dee Rodriques, owned by Treiser Collins Law Offices
• “Spring Training” by artist Robert Daltry, owned by the city of Clearwater.
This $250,000 public art project began in August 2012, and many of the dolphins are available for public viewing at locations chosen by their owners.
