CLEARWATER - Winter the dolphin and her adoptive mom, Panama, are swimming around in their new pool at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
The duo moved into a 169,000 gallon pool that is twice as big as their previous one.
Their new home brings guests closer than ever to Winter, and allows CMA to double its number of daily dolphin shows, with six presentations.
For the first time, guests are able to watch both Winter and Panama swim through four underwater windows. The new exhibit is 40 in diameter and 18 feet deep, compared to the previous one that was 25 x 18 and 14 feet deep. The larger size will also allow Winter more room to work with her prosthetic tail.
March 23, 2010 is a significant in CMA history as it marks the anniversary of the day it first filed with the state of Florida to operate as an aquarium.
