CLEARWATER – Clearwater police arrested Rebecca Fenton of Clearwater on March 21 on a first-degree murder charge, according to a police report. She is accused of killing her husband, Larry Fenton, on Feb. 3, 2008, in their home at 1051 Nokomis St.
She was arrested at 5 p.m. near Sunset Point Road and U.S. 19 at Capri Mobile Home Park.
Fenton, 46, was taken into custody several hours after she was indicted by a Pinellas County grand jury in Larry Fenton’s death, who was 57 at the time he died. He was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds at his house. His wife was the one who found his body, and she told police she had been exercising in the detached garage behind the house at the time of the shooting.
“Rebecca Fenton told police that she heard a noise that sounded like something falling off the roof while she was exercising, but she didn’t check on her husband until sometime later,” the report said. “When she did, she found him in a pool of blood.”
Clearwater police found a revolver that was purchased by the victim the prior year in Rebecca Fenton’s car, the report said. The investigation showed that the weapon turned out to be the one that killed Larry Fenton. Inside the house, a box of ammunition in the master bedroom was missing five rounds.
She is being held at the Pinellas County Jail without bond.
