CLEARWATER – The Clearwater police have arrested a woman on charges of battery on a firefighter, according to a police report.
Clearwater Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of a wreck late March 30 at Fort Harrison Avenue and Mohawk Street. Ashley Cochran, 21, of Palm Harbor allegedly ran over several signs and then ran into a power pole, causing some power lines to fall, the report said. Police say Cochran admitted to having a lot to drink and consented to a blood draw at the scene. She then became combative and began battering the firefighter-paramedic, yelling, “You don’t know what I’ve been through,” the report said.
DUI charges are pending, depending on the results of the blood test. The battery charge is a felony, and she is being held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
