Gloria Ann Lee Nims, 72, with her family by her side, peacefully transitioned from this world on March 25, 2014 after a short illness.
Born in her parent’s Meridian Road home on Jan. 17, 1942 in Tallahassee, Fla., Gloria was the first-born child of the late Maude and Fred Lee.
A graduate of Lincoln High School, Gloria furthered her education at Bennett College in Greensboro, N.C. Her degrees in Spanish and English would pave the way for her career as a teacher and librarian.
On Aug. 31, 1963, Gloria was united in holy matrimony to the late Theodore Nims Jr.
To this union, two daughters, Chandra LaKaye and Marjorie Nicole were born. During their nearly 30 years of marriage, Gloria and Teddy moved many times as his career with General Electric advanced.
Clearwater, Florida became their final home after Teddy’s retirement. It was here that Gloria began working in the Clearwater Library System. Gloria retired from the library after more than 16 years of service.
Gloria quickly adjusted to the Florida retirement lifestyle. She most enjoyed long walks in the park and any kind of game or puzzle, especially jigsaw or word searches.
In November 2011, Gloria relocated to the Dallas, Texas area. She continued to enjoy her retirement lifestyle activities including time with family and new friends. Gloria was in the Dallas area when the Lord called her home.
Left to cherish her memory, daughters; Chandra Brown (Vincent) and Marjorie Nims, brothers; Fred Douglass Lee Jr. (Patricia) and John Daryl Lee (Beverly), seven aunts, two uncles, four grandchildren, four nieces, five nephews and a host of cousins and special friends.
