Letter carrier honored CLEARWATER – Clearwater Police Chief Tony Holloway recently honored letter carrier Thornell Strawn, “T,” at the post office on Hercules Avenue. Strawn was recognized for his efforts for a Feb. 26 in which his actions helped police nab a burglary suspect.
Strawn called 911 when he saw a suspicious subject entering a backyard on Corona Avenue and then stayed on the line with communications operators, relaying what he saw and heard until police arrived.
He was joined by his wife and daughters at the ceremony and also was honored by the U.S. Postal Service.
Turpack gets Employee Award CLEARWATER – Clearwater Police congratulates Leah Turpack, the Communication Center’s bi-annual Employee Award winner. Three people nominated her for the honor, and she was recognized for her efforts in several incidents.
One of these incidents was a shooting and hit-and-run that quickly escalated when an officer located the suspect vehicle. The other was a missing adult call in which she kept all units updated promptly and efficiently. Many people who work with her applauded her calm and cool demeanor during high-stress call situations.
