CLEARWATER – Two people died in Clearwater Friday afternoon - a mother stabbed by her son and the son shot by a Pinellas County deputy.
According to deputies, a man called the Sheriff’s Communication Center about 12:15 p.m. May 16 and reported he had stabbed his mother and killed her at their home at the Eastwood Pines Townhomes subdivision on Pine Cone Circle in Clearwater.
Cpl. Pete Doyle, 42, approached the front of the residence, knocked at the door and announced himself as a Sheriff’s deputy. Suddenly, the deputies heard yelling and screaming coming from within the residence. Deputies said the suspect came down the stairs, made his way out the door and continued to advance toward Deputy Doyle with something in his hand.
Doyle repeatedly ordered him to stop, but the subject continued advancing towards him. Cpl. Doyle fired several shots. Justin Sean Tucker, 36, died on scene.
Kathryn Marie Clark, 67, was discovered inside the residence. Deputies said it appears the woman was stabbed. A butcher knife was located next to the body.
No deputies were injured. The investigation continues.
