CLEARWATER – A 21-year-old Clearwater man was arrested on May 17 for luring two children into his apartment with the promise of candy, ice cream and showing them his pets, according to a Clearwater police report.
Christopher Anthony Lorch allegedly made contact with the 7-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy near his apartment on N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. on the evening of May 16. He lured the children inside, walked the female victim upstairs and locked her inside a bedroom.
The male victim ran from the apartment screaming for help from neighbors and other children in the apartment complex. Someone called police, and officers arrested Lorch.
“We’re very fortunate that nothing happened to those kids,” said Police Chief Tony Holloway.
Lorch is being held at the Pinellas County Jail on two counts of luring and enticing a child, and one count of false imprisonment. Bond was set at $50,100.
Police urge parents to talk to their children about the importance of never going with people they do not know.
